Week 03/2026

January 18, 2026 · 3 min read · Weekly-Notes ·

I can’t believe it’s Jan-18th already. I recall that January 2025 was the longest month for me, and the rest of the year passed quickly thereafter. Quite the opposite this year. I’ve been dealing with a sore throat and cold ever since last week. You must have seen “Chennai-snow” or “Chennai cold” tags on Twitter. I’m really thankful this week had a festival holiday, so I didn’t have to work a full week with this sore throat. Had to take Friday off for some personal reasons, so had a 4-day weekend.

The week started with some bad news. My dad fell off the chair while he was standing on it to replace a tubelight. We have told him multiple times not do something due to age, but he, being the ever-proactive dad, never listens and does it anyway. Mom and Dad did not tell me about this incident, but told me a day later. That too, Mom texted me late at night. I went to my parents’ place after dropping my wife off at work early in the morning. Luckily, there were only a few minor injuries on his head and one long skin injury on his leg. This guy went out for tea with this leg and head injury after doing the dressing on his home like it was nothing. When I knew this happened, he brushed it off by saying it’s a “scratch”.

Convinced him to go to the doctor after 1 hour, and then he had the TT injection and some meds prescribed. They also did the proper dressing by cleaning the wound and applying some ointment to it. It was all good for 30 minutes, and then Dad removed the dressing and said it’d heal quicker if it’s out in the open. :| dear lord! Fast forward 2 days, and he started showing signs of immense pain (and swelling) while going from resting -> standing position. He is now going to the doctor every 2 days or every other day to get the dressing and wound cleaned. Apparently, his sugar level spiked, and it takes some time for the wound to heal if you are diabetic. He’s better than before, but the pain still exists. Hopefully it subsides soon. The doctor suggested taking some rest and coming to visit 2 days later (last visit: today). My wife also recommended some low-sugar foods to eat, and that seems to have worked pretty well.

My cousin’s family came from Uvari yesterday and paid a visit to my parents’ and my house. Spent some time and caught up with them. On gaming, I completed the Vessel of Hatred campaign - this seems to be the recommended campaign to complete after you buy the expansions. I should sit and complete the original campaign first. Other than that, I had to book a carpenter to get my kitchen door fixed.

more like a work for mason trimmed the sides screw to the wall plan screwed!

As a temporary fix, the carpenter screwed the door frame to the wall to keep it in place. I’m still looking for a permanent solution and keeping everything in sync with the house owner.
